Vacation Bible School 2007:
Avalanche Ranch

The VBS Avalanche Ranch theme was a huge success. On average, approximately 155 children attended Bible School on any given day. Each day, the children experienced a different Bible verse that was reinforced throughout the morning with dramas, Chadder’s Adventure movie, singing, games, crafts, and snack. Many volunteers helped to make our ranch complete!

This year, the VBS children were collecting money to send to Pastor Risingsung of the Native Christian Fellowship Church in Alabama. As you may recall, Hurricane Katrina hit this area hard. Many of Pastor’s Risingsun’s congregational members lost everything in the hurricane. The church itself has little money as well. During Pastor Risingsun’s visit to DRE a while back, he had mentioned how much his congregation enjoys worshipping the Lord through music, despite the fact that his congregation has just one instrument- an old and broken guitar. By Friday morning, the children had raised over $1,400.00 to send to Pastor Risingsun for the purchase of new instruments. God is truly good!

During the week, the energy and excitement of VBS could be felt throughout the entire church. The children were asked to write about their favorite part of the Bible School week, and here are some of the responses that we received:

"My favorite part of VBS is crew time, because we got to know our group better."

"My favorite thing was Bible time."

" My favorite thing is singing music, because you get to be in a concert."

"My favorite part of VBS was Chadder, because he believed in God."

" My favorite part of VBS was learning about God."

" My favorite part of VBS was meeting new people and seeing old buddies."

" I loved the crafts. They were cool! The snacks were yummy too!"

" My favorite part was when we went to Jericho in Bible time."

" My favorite part was 'everything!'"

One mother sent in a note of positive praise too: "Thank you for your generosity in organizing such a wonderful Vacation Bible School! My daughter has been having a super time!"

We would like to thank all of the people who devoted their time to this year’s VBS program. You are the reason that the program is such a hug success! What a difference you have made in the lives of so many children! We look forward to working with you again next year!
